James Sutton known as Jam Sutton (born April 28, 1986 in Great Britain) is an English artist, photographer and music video director. Inspired by pop culture, art and music, his work is a collision of colour and culture with a subtle hint of his love for surrealism.

Career

He studied graphic design at Coventry University. Jam Sutton is from a new generation of creatives. Breaking away from the strict boundaries of traditional photography, Jam captures his subjects in new and exciting ways. From shooting to post production, Jam is fully hands-on and in control of every artistic aspect, creating his bold recognisable style.

Jam's work spans various mediums, harnessing the power and creativity of cutting edge techniques through photography and video.

Jam has gained attention from, and collaborated with, a wide variety of UK and international clients, including will.i.am, Natalia Kills, Steve Aoki, Keri Hilson, Space Cowboy, Master Shortie, The Fratellis, Cherrytree Records (Interscope/Universal), Sony Music and Ministry of Sound.

Jam's work has been published and displayed throughout the world in exhibitions, magazines, album artwork, television broadcasts and some of the hottest online blogs (Hypebeast / Kanye West / Flylyf / Grafik Mag). Jam has gained recognition from prestigious award ceremonies including the Adobe Design Achievement Awards and the D&AD Student Awards (Design & Art Direction).

Amongst all this, James manages to fit time into working on a streetwear clothing line which is already creating a buzz behind the scenes.

“I’m pretty sure that in the future he will be shaking everyone’s gum flaps from New York to London as the guy who has shot everyone, who’s anyone in the music and film world.” WUW Magazine

A selection of photographs have been included in a group photography show in fashionable Brighton art gallery O Contemporary, alongside works by Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Andy Warhol, David LaChapelle and many more.

This Is Not Clothing

Jam Sutton is the founder and main designer for a line of clothing ranging from surrelaism to pop art. The line is a juxtaposition of contemporary culture and fine art, showcasing people and icons in a similar way to the religious iconography of the Italian Renaissance.
