BYD Auto is a Chinese car manufacturer that produces a wide range of vehicles, such as plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) passenger cars, battery electric (BEV) passenger cars, battery electric buses, battery electric trucks, and other types of vehicles. The company formerly produced internal combustion engine (ICE) cars until 2022, when the company announced that it would focus on PHEVs and BEVs (collectively called "New Energy Vehicles" or NEV in China).[1]
The following is a list of vehicles produced by BYD, including vehicles that are marketed under the Denza, Yangwang and Fangchengbao brands.
The BYD brand distinguishes their passenger car line-up under three "series", which are Dynasty series (started by the Qin in 2012), Ocean series (started by the Dolphin in 2021), and the "e" series, a line of product oriented at fleet sales such as ride-hailing and taxi.[2] Dynasty series vehicles focuses on higher-end vehicles and adopts dragon-inspired designs,[3][4] Ocean series vehicles targets younger customers and adopts the "Marine Aesthetics" styling, by using the ocean, waves and flowing lines as a design theme.[5] The Ocean series is further divided into two series, which are models with marine animal names and the Warship Series (Frigate and Destroyer plug-in hybrids).[6][7] Dynasty and Ocean series are offered through separate sales network, namely the Dynasty Network and the Ocean Network,[8][9] and uses separate mobile apps for telematics.[10]
The powertrain options consists of battery electric often denoted by the EV suffix, DM-i (Dual Mode Intelligent, a plug-in hybrid system) and DM-p (performance-oriented Dual Mode with all-wheel drive). These DM models are usually paired with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine.[2]
