The Low-A East was a 12-team Minor League Baseball league that operated in the United States in 2021. It was announced on March 16, 2022 by Major League Baseball that this league would resume as the historic Carolina League. [1][2] Along with the Low-A Southeast and Low-A West, it was one of three leagues playing at the Low-A level, which is four grades below Major League Baseball (MLB). The league was created in 2021 in conjunction with MLB's reorganization of the minor leagues.[2] The league was made up of seven former members of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League and five of the Class A South Atlantic League.
