Nails Inc. is a London, England based nail bar chain, presently with 60 outlets across the United Kingdom.[1]
Thea Green was born and brought up in the Wirral, near Liverpool, the daughter of a company director of Littlewoods, and a mother who owned a snooker hall. Green and her brother worked both at her mother's snooker hall, and in local Saturday jobs. After leaving school at age 18, she completed a degree in public relations and journalism at the London College of Fashion. While studying, she assisted on the fashion desk at the Daily Mail newspaper, and then Tatler magazine. Joining Tatler as fashion co-oordinator on graduation, she became fashion editor aged 24.[2] Married with three children under the age of seven, Green lives in Fulham.[3]
Green noticed on travelling to New York city, the number of nail bars that were easily available. Working on a business plan with business partner Marie Therese, they raised £200,000 through investors, and launched their first store in 1999 in South Molton Street in the West End of London.[3]
After opening the first three stores in London, as the business expanded Therese left the business with her family for the United States.[4]
In 2000, Nails Inc opened department store concessions. In 2003, the company launched their training academy for beauty therapists in London. In 2005 they launched the luxury "champagne nail bar."[4]
Nails Inc. is presently the UK's largest nail bar chain, serving on average 10,000 customers per week through 60 locations. The company has concessions within key retailers, including Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Fenwick, House of Fraser, Debenhams and John Lewis.[1]
The company now has stores in Ireland, Australia and Hong Kong. The company is also developing Get Lashed, a diffusion brand for false eye lashes.[4]
