Nairobi City County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya. The third smallest yet the most populous of the counties; it also serves as the capital city of Kenya. “Nairobi” comes from a Maasai phrase ‘Enkare Nyrobi’, which means “cool water” and this county boasts of beautiful places to visit and adventure such as the Nairobi National Park which is the only park in the world located within a city as well as some of the magnificent skyscrapers that are a huge part of the beauty of this county.

Nairobi City County was founded after 2010 on the same boundaries as the then consolidated district-province of Nairobi; Kenya's eight provinces were sub-divided into forty seven Counties of Kenya by the Constitution of Kenya, based on the forty seven districts that were established prior to the year 1992. To date, the county has had four governors who have worked hard to carry the vision of the county in making it "The City of Choice to invest, work and live in." by providing affordable, accessible and sustainable quality services, enhancing community participation and creating a secure climate for political, social and economic development through the commitment of a motivated and dedicated team.

On 25 August 2022 after the general elections in Kenya, Johnson Sakaja was sworn-in as the fourth Governor of Nairobi County.[1]
