Nemo Mettler was born in Biel/Bienne, in the Canton of Berne.[5] Their father is Markus Mettler, an entrepreneur and inventor, and their mother is Nadja Schnetzler, a journalist.[6] Nemo has a sister named Ella who collaborates with them in the artistic direction of projects.[7] Nemo approached music from the age of three, learning to play the violin, piano and drum; from age 9 to 13 Nemo studied opera singing.[8] From age 13 Nemo began to approach rap, performing at a number of Swiss contests, performing songs Nemo wrote themself. Nemo studied for a year at Zurich University of the Arts,[9] and later settled in Berlin to pursue their music career.[10]
