The Oil Region is an unofficial region in the western part of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania that encompasses the land in and around the Oil Creek valley.[1] It is so named because it includes the first oil fields discovered in the United States (see History of the petroleum industry in the United States).
The Drake Well Museum[2][3] and Oil Creek State Park are located in this region, and it is encompassed by the Oil Region National Heritage Area.[4]
