Mohamed Pappu Hossain (Bengali: মোহামদ পাপ্পু হোসাইন; born 7 April 1999),[1] is a Bangladeshi professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Bangladesh Premier League club Abahani Limited Dhaka and the Bangladesh national team.[2]
Pappu Hossain started his senior career with Arambagh KS.[2][3] He joined Saif Sporting Club in 2017,[4][5] where he won the award for best goalkeeper in the Bangladesh Premier League from the Bangladesh Football Supporters Forum.[6][7] He was also part of the club's 2018 AFC Cup qualification squad.[8] In 2019, he was loaned to Mohammedan SC.[9][10]
In October 2019, Pappu gets his first-ever senior national team call up for a FIFA friendly against Bhutan.[11][9]
In November 2019, Pappu got a U-23 call up for 2019 South Asian Games.[12][13][14]
In July 2023, he was selected in the main squad for the 2022 Asian Games.[15]
He is the nephew of Bangladesh national team player Sohel Rana.[11] His older brother Sujon Hossain also plays as a goalkeeper.[16]
