Renegade is a American television series that ran for 110 episodes spanning 5 seasons between September 17, 1992 and April 4, 1997.

Premise

The series followed the adventures of Reno Raines, a cop framed for murder who goes on the run and becomes a bounty hunter, played by Falcon Crest alumnus Lorenzo Lamas. The series was produced by Stephen J. Cannell, who also had a recurring role as Donald 'Dutch' Dixon, the real villain of the piece.

Introduction

The show had the following voiceover before every episode summarizing the plot of the series:-

He was a cop, and good at his job. But he committed the ultimate sin, and testified against other cops gone bad. Cops that tried to kill him, but got the woman he loved instead. Framed for murder, now he prowls the badlands. An outlaw hunting outlaws, a bounty hunter, a Renegade.

The Renegade theme that followed was composed by Mike Post.

Plot

Framed for the murder of Buzzy Burrell (another police officer) by Dixon, Reno Raines is sent to prison but promptly escapes. Dixon sends professional bounty hunter Native American Bobby Sixkiller (Branscombe Richmond) after him, but Reno instead saves Bobby's life and gains his trust. Adopting the name Vince Black, Reno works as a bounty hunter for Sixkiller Enterprises, while searching for the one person who can clear his name and bring down Dixon — a witness called Hound Adams (Geoffrey Blake) who, fearing for his own life, will only come forward if Reno kills Dixon, something which he is unwilling to do.

Cast

Until season 4, which was her last, Kinmont was married to Lamas.

Acceptance

At the peak of its syndication run Renegade was broadcast in nearly 100 countries and a dozen languages, achieving a noteworthy following as one of the most viewed world programs, rivaled in numbers only by the syndication powerhouse Baywatch.[citation needed]
