Sherif Abdallah (born 18 August 1958) is a Haitian insurance businessman and a close associate of former Haitian President Jovenel Moïse.[1]
Abdallah was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1958 and is the son of an Egyptian father and an Italian mother. He emigrated to Haiti in 1981.[2][1]
On December 5, 2022, the Canadian government imposed sanctions on three Haitian businessmen, including Abdallah, Reynold Deeb, and Gilbert Bigio. The Canadian government alleged that Abdallah and others had financially supported gangs in Haiti that have contributed to the Haitian humanitarian crisis. The Canadian government placed a freeze on Abdallah's assets in Canada.[1] In response, Abdallah resigned from Sogebank, one of the largest commercial banks in Haiti.[3]
