Takarsugu Muramatsu (村松 崇継, Muramatsu Takatsugu, born July 2, 1978)[1] is a Japanese composer, arranger and music producer. He is best known for his collaborations Studio Ghibli's work When Marnie Was There. He received 3 times award for the Best Music on the Japan Academy Film Prize.
In 1996, he released his first solo work Mado during his time of high school. In 2001, he made his debut as a movie music composer for the movie Inugami.[1] On the same year, he graduated from the Kunitachi College of Music.[1] In 2009, he held his first solo piano concert tour in 5 places across the nation. In 2014, his music on the movie "When Marnie Was There" received public attention and was well received by critics.[2] On the same year, his works included in the Natsumi Abe's cover album "Hikari He" and Mariya Takeuchi's studio album Trad has been nominated and awarded at the 56th Japan Record Awards.[3] In 2018, the British movie magazine Empire listed music from the movie Mary and the Witch's Flower among the Best Movie Soundtrack songs of 2018.[4]
