From a 1956 aerial photo held by South Pacific Tyres N. Z. Limited, I would guess that the only Beardmore building surviving by then was a tall 4-bay hangar at the rear of the site; there is an airfield runway visible further back from the Greenock road. The great majority of the buildings facing the Greenock road look like a single-storey rubber factory.

India Tyres eventually became part of the Dunlop group, and the brand was sold and manufactured widely; Dunlop New Zealand Limited made some India-pattern tyres as late as the 1980's. {contributed by User: Don-mcleod}

Comments:

• 1. Agree about Beardmore buildings, I am changing text.
• 2. I haven't seen the photograph, but a copy may exist at the NMR. The airfield is probably what is now known as Glasgow International Airport, seen from the India site across the Black Cart Water.
• 3. I need to check the facts, but India Tyres was part-owned by Dunlop as long ago as WW II. By the 1960s/1960s India Tyres was fully owned by Dunlop and only made Aviation tyres. Someone will correct comment this if its wrong.
• 4. There may be scope for a separate article about the company India Tyres. This article was intended to be about the site, now known as India of Inchinnan, and how it changed over time. That also implies a separate article about the Beardmore Airship Construction station.

Well it has a very nice picture on the home page, and some text, that appears to be a much earlier version of this article; but it is Wikipedia:Spam. There is a page on the restaurant and a menu; a Corporate Hospitality page; and a Guest page. Sorry, I don't believe it would add any value to this article - its more free advertising for them. Renovation section Today (5th April 2021), I 'renovated' this section which claimed that the India building is "the only category A listed building in Scotland in Commercial use". I added a reference to another Category A Listed building of which I am aware is also in commercial use. A little digging found a few more, such as the two (separate) Scottish Widows buildings and the HMSO building in Edinburgh, plus the Centrelink building in Shotts.

It is possible that the original claim should have stated "the only pre-WWII category A listed building in Scotland in Commercial use".

I will leave my recent change as-is, but if the originator is still out there and reads this, they might want to make their own amendment if the pre-WWII theory is correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tam Nugent (talk • contribs) 20:15, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
