This source lists it as a single. ^[1] Plus, it's charting on a radio chart (Mainstream Rock). Blood on the Sand is a promo single, but I believe that BH is a single since it's now being promoted on radio. Daerl (talk) 03:02, 29 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The definition of a single is something that is regularly and hotly debated on Wikipedia. While we haven't come up with a universally agreed upon definition, there are some keep points that many Wikipedians have raised in various discussions. Just because it was released before an album does not necessarily mean it is a single. Also, just because it has a music video does not mean it was a single. While a single can be used to promote an album, it's not a necessary function. For example, Converge's "On My Shield" was released as a stand-alone single that was later released on the album All We Love We Leave Behind two years later -- but the song "On My Shield" was never used in the promotion leading up to or after the release of All We Love We Leave Behind, it never received a music video, it never went on the radio, etc. It's just a stand-alone single.

While you have provided a source that refers "Black Honey" as a single, the vast majority of sources merely call it a song that was posted online for streaming or a music video[1][2][3][4][5] so that is how it has been referred to on this article. The term "single" is sometimes conversationally used to mean something that is promotional, but an encyclopedia should be using a more literal definition, as is carried out on many Wikipedia pages by many editors.

It does appear that "Black Honey" has charted, I did not see this earlier and no one provided this information in their edits/edit summaries when they added it to the article in the past. So I would now be okay if you wanted to add "Black Honey" to the infobox and refer to it as a radio single. "Blood in the Sand" however only appears to be a song that was streamed online. Anyway, here's the review

Lede

• No mention of what the music sounds like. You do mention the more socially and politically charged lyrics, which is good, but the music also needs an inclusion.

I added a genre description, let me know if you want more.

• No mention of the reception or how it did commercially. Just briefly mention what critics liked and disliked, and that it reached number 15 in the US. You can mention more if you want, but I think it's important to mention that stuff at the very least.

Still working on this part.

Background

• Released months after the hiatus officially began in 2012, the 24-song live album Anthology captured Thrice's final tour. Needs a citation

Added ref to HM, although I didn't think it necessary since the existence of such a recording in my opinion is enough.

• The first three sentences of the second paragraph use the word "continued". I'd try and reword some of the sentences to avoid the repetition.

Done.

• Drummer Riley Breckenridge formed a grindcore and baseball-themed band called Puig Destroyer, an amalgamation of the names of grindcore band Pig Destroyer and baseball player Yasiel Puig. Nothing wrong this sentence, just wanted to highlight the fact that this incredible thing exists.

Never liked baseball, but this was clever and it is extremely commendable being able to write music like this.

Writing and recording

• Nothing to say, looks solid

Music and lyrics

• Again, everything looks good. I personally wouldn't have put in the full Seneca quote, but it's not hurting anyone. Plus, when it comes to aesthetic choices, I'll always defer to the editor who contributed the most to the article.

I agree, it is extraneous.

Marketing and promotion

• The video depicts a boy with glowing eyes being driven through countryside by various figures, including members of Thrice. The car pulls over by an orchard and a flash of light emanates from the boy, leaving the trees covered in a dark, liquid-like substance. Needs a citation, as that statement is not supported in the NPR citation.

Usually, in song articles, the video itself serves as citation for the content within it. I would think it would be treated the same here. If you insist, I can pull the link from the song's article (Fuse), but it also doesn't go to the specifics we currently have.

• Once again, just a brief mention of how the album did from a commercial standpoint. You don't need to go overboard, just mention how it did on the charts.

It didn't do spectacular around the world, but in America and Canada, it looks like it did the best. Maybe I could highlight those?

Reception

• What did critics think of the lyrics. I don't see anything about that in the reception section

Tried to bring a little of that to attention, but you see, the problem here is that most of the time if they're noticed at all, it's more that they're simply noted instead of actually rated. There was a little bit available though.

• Dan Caffrey of Consequence of Sound panned the album... Is a C- really "panned"? I get that we're supposed to remain impartial, but when I think panned, I think D- or F.

Cushioned my wording a bit. Didn't realize how strong the word was, was just thinking for a word to use at the time. This is the only section that I really wrote myself.
