This is a sub-template of ((S-bef)). It is used to check value of the |before= parameter, to see if it contains words which indicate that it would be better to use another template such as ((S-vac)) or ((S-new)), and to populate tracking categories:

• Category:S-bef: 'before' parameter begins with the word 'new'
• Category:S-bef: 'before' parameter includes the word 'created'
• Category:S-bef: 'before' parameter includes the word 'vacant'
• Category:S-bef: 'before' parameter includes the word 'suspended'
• Category:S-bef: 'before' parameter includes the word 'unknown'
