This metadata contains the area of all the Municipalities, Districts and Cantons of Switzerland. It is based on the Swiss populations data template and largely works in the same way, requiring the input of the SFOS code (or the cantonal ISO code) and returning the area in hectares for the corresponding territory.

For area, this data template is read by the ((Swiss area)) template. To create References the syntax is as follows:

Municipality - ((Swiss area data||Source))
Municipality - ((Swiss area data||QUELLE))

District - ((Swiss area data||Source-BZ))
District - ((Swiss area data||QUELLE-BZ))

Canton - ((Swiss area data||Source-KT))

• Note: 1) For creating a Reference any valid number can be included between the 2 pipes (eg. "| B0101 |", "| ZH |" etc.) but the template ignores the entry
• Note: 2) QUELLE and Source are both included for backward compatibility and are equivalent as long as the information inside this template is the same.
