Please support an adj=on
as for Template:Convert, so that it is possible to write eg. "The QM2 is a 150,000-GT ocean liner" in a WP:MOSNUM-compliant manner. —Sladen (talk) 19:01, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
Gross tonnage is an unitless index, so there is no such thing as "gross ton". Thus it should not be allowed to be used in this template. Tupsumato (talk) 15:33, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Possible new parameters for this template are being discussed at WT:SHIPS §GT, GRT, NetT, NRT templates.

@Trappist the monk: So this line
|adj=-((#ifeq:(({link|))}|off|gross tonnage (GT)|[[Gross tonnage((!))gross tonnage (GT)]]))
gives the same result whether adj=on or not. If it's on it should say gross tons, not gross tonnage. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 16:40, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
|disp=long
and |disp=adj
is the hyphenated rendering:
((GT|36000|disp=long))
→ 36,000 gross tonnage (GT)((GT|36000|disp=adj))
→ 36,000-gross tonnage (GT)
