The Tribelhorn was a Swiss electric car manufactured in Zurich from 1899 to 1919, although production did not begin in earnest until 1902. Three- and four-wheeled versions of the car were offered. The company also produced trolleytrucks that were used in Gümmenen and Mühleberg Switzerland between 1918 and 1922 during the construction of a dam. After 1919 it produced only light utility vans.
A. Tribelhorn & Cie. AG was founded in Feldbach in 1902 and produced automobiles and trucks. In 1918 the name was changed to Electrische Fahrzeuge AG and the company moved to Altstetten. Production of the Tribelhorn ended in 1920.[citation needed]
The first prototype of the Tribelhorn was created in 1902. The vehicle was manufactured exclusively with an electric motor. The company primarily produced commercial vehicles, only manufacturing small quantities of passenger vehicles.
The Tribelhorn was patented in 1912.[citation needed] The Tribelhorn was moderately popular, with 78 vehicles registered in 1910,[1] 121 in 1912,[2][3] 121 in 1917,[4][5] and 112 in 1918.[6] In 1915, Tribelhorn created an electric wheelchair.[7]
Two Tribelhorn vehicles are on display in the Verkehrshaus der Schweiz in Luzern.
A conference room at Tesla Motors, Inc. is named after the company.
