I am the History Department Chair at Santa Monica College where I serve on the Curriculum Committee and oversee the department's Oral History Internship Program. I also teach at UCLA and am the recipient of the California Humanities Community Stories grant. I teach classes in U.S. History, Asian American History, and the Practice of History.

I received an MA in Asian American Studies from UCLA and a PhD in History from the University of California, Berkeley.

Working with a group of twelve SMC students I am currently producing a documentary on the 1992 Los Angeles Riots called Saigu Remembered.
