The indomitable human spirit is something to behold. Time and time again has man defied the odds. From the Apollo 11 moon landing to the eradication of smallpox, humanity has done some incredible things. Even if our current state of the world may be bleak.

Future nations will know by history only that the loathsome smallpox has existed.

Thomas Jefferson

  1. Eradication of smallpox: Smallpox killed more people in the 20th century than all wars plus the Spanish Flu combined. It is estimated that half a billion people were saved due to the eradication of smallpox. Now you nor your ancestors have to worry about smallpox ever again.
  2. World Wide Web: The Internet is the best and worst thing to happen to humanity. You can communicate with anything and anyone anywhere, however, the Internet has made us more divided than ever with misinformation and lies being spread like wildfire.
  3. Allied defeat of the Nazis: The Allies triumphing over the Nazis proved that racial supremacy is not profound, but rather outdated and has no place. The defeat also saved the lives of millions across Europe, especially Slavs, Jews, and LGBT Europeans.
