I am a researcher at UC-Berkeley in the School of Information, and am studying Wikipedia - along with other distributed networks of knowledge production in science. You can see more about me at User:Staeiou. Because I am an ethnographer and gathering data by participating in the community, various laws require me to take certain precautions to ensure that my research is ethical - you can read a formal declaration of my pledge to the Wikimedia community at User:Staeiou/Research Protocol. Basically, I'll keep your privacy if you say anything to me in confidence, but remember that everything you post or edit on Wikipedia can be seen by anyone.
I do a lot of work on bots and assisted editing tools, from both a quantitative and qualitative perspective. I have one poster I presented at Wikisym on "The Social Roles of Bots and Assisted Editing Tools" and one paper that I will be presenting at Computer Supported Cooperative Work on "The Work of Sustaining Order in Wikipedia: The Banning of a Vandal." Abstracts and full papers are also up on my website, stuartgeiger.com
