Question[edit]

I noticed that your first (and only) article-space edit to Wikipedia was replicating a recently reverted edit by another editor, using the exact same edit summary used by that editor. I am curious as to whether you are in some way connected to that editor. BD2412 T 01:24, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That is just a coincidence. I copied the edit summary because it made sense. My connections are not relevant. Asking about them sounds like an attempt at WP:OUTING. The truth about this organization is going to be published shortly and I’ll be back to update the article accordingly.--ECDPCMark (talk) 01:34, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just to confirm, I don't know who ECDPCMark is. I have not had any on-wiki contact, and I don't know who they are off-wiki. A few points of advice for you @ECDPCMark:
1. It's best to not just repeat and copy-paste edit summaries of other users, especially if this a revert of a revert (see WP:REVTALK). Copy-pasting throws up reasonable suspicion of WP:SOCK or WP:MEAT - as a result, it is reasonable for BD2412 to enquire whether you have connections to me in this context.
2. Since this is a revert of a revert, it would be best to argue your case on the GISAID talk page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:GISAID) or address the stated reason for the original revert by BD2412 in the edit summary.
3. Your connections are relevant if they pose an apparent conflict of interest. Enquiring whether you have any relevant connections is proper, especially given that your first edit as registered user was a revert of a revert and you copy-pasted the edit summary. This is not WP:OUTING, defined as "Posting another editor's personal information". Asking about on-wiki connections is not outing.
4. Your last sentence "The truth about this organization is going to be published shortly and I’ll be back to update the article accordingly" potentially suggests you have may have strong opinions about the article subject, which can lead to bias. Have a look at WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS. AncientWalrus (talk) 12:47, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • @ECDPCMark: I did not see you response, as I was not pinged in that response. However, I would like to be clear that this is not "an attempt at WP:OUTING"; I am asking because there has been questionable activity around this page, and your edit was, in my view, consistent with SPA efforts to test the boundaries of what can be done there.
