- I wanted to contact you about the picture you inserted on the Elvin Jones article. Obviously you put a lot of time into it, but that is not the place for the picture. It is for an actual photograph or artistic rendition of Elvin Jones. I am contacting you to see if you would take it down instead of me, as I don't want to appear rude. I am merely conveying to you what others surely will over time. (Mind meal 21:26, 1 July 2007 (UTC))[reply]
- Well maybe we should wait to see what others have to say? It seems to me that it might be worthwhile to have this artistic rendition of Elvin Jones up in the meantime, who knows maybe it will inspire others to do a rendition of their own. What do you think? If you still think I should remove it let me know. I don't think it hurts the article but I'm a new user here and I guess I could trust your judgment? Charleswesterman 23:31, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Try to look at this objectively. If I uploaded a picture of a paperclip that I painted in tribute to Miles Davis, and then placed that image in the infobox for his article - would that not seem inappropriate to you? Certainly I am not comparing the quality of your craft to painting a paperclip. However, Elvin Jones did not even play a horn. This artwork is a tribute to John Coltrane, right? It is a figure that could represent any human being on earth holding a horn or possibly a saxophone. Where is the context at all here? (Mind meal 10:09, 11 July 2007 (UTC))[reply]
