-Pedro 23:08, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Hi, I noticed you've been adding several new articles. You probably should take a look at Wikipedia:Manual of style to familiarize yourself with a few things that are standard across articles. Especially note that the first occurence of the title in the article should be bolded, as should the first occurence any alternate names for the title. —siroχo 02:10, Aug 31, 2004 (UTC)
Hi Joaopais, from the looks of Wikipedia talk:WikiProject WikiAwards, it looks like you've met the opposition that I alluded to earlier. For your sake, I'm sorry that it went this way, but in truth this is probably for the best. (In all honesty, I'm disappointed at the general tone of the response, which I would have expected to be a bit more civil. Responses like this can sour people to Wikipedia, but I encourage you to stick around -- you're definitely a worthwhile editor, and your contributions are very much appreciated.) If you still want to pursue the offsite WikiAwards idea, just let me know and I can help you get started. Best wishes, Diberri | Talk 20:04, Sep 1, 2004 (UTC)
Hello Joaopais. This template on former colonies of Portugal has been listed at Wikipedia:Templates for deletion by Jiang for some time. There is a discussion on whether templates of such kind should be removed. Your comment would be very helpful to the discussion. You may also be interested to have a look on the vfd of Template:Former British colonies. — Instantnood 16:35, Feb 10 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for uploading Image:Ferro Coutinho.jpg. Its copyright status is unclear, so it may have to be deleted. Please leave a note on the image page about the source of the image. Thank you. --Kevin McManus 21:43, Jun 17, 2005 (UTC)
Hi, Joaopais. I see you've now put John III of Portugal on peer review, I hope you get good input there. I've removed the article from FAC for now, as it's not supposed to be in both places at once. I hope you don't mind, and whenever you feel it's ready for FAC, do please just put it back. Best wishes, Bishonen | talk 10:14, 12 July 2005 (UTC).
Hi, Gameiro. Thank you for your nomination on WP:IDRIVE. I hope it wins, but if it fails, you can then list it at the Biography Collaboration of the Week. (Right now the biography page is full of nominations, so I would wait.)
You have also asked for help in proofreading the translation, so I wanted to point you to a page where you can list articles that you may have translated and want proofread: Wikipedia:Translations into English has a section on the bottom, where you can list any translated article to be read and corrected. Best wishes, --Fenice 08:52, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
Template:Football_in_Portugal has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at Wikipedia:Templates for deletion#Template:Football_in_Portugal. Thank you. wS;✉ 01:39, 9 August 2005 (UTC)
I have renominated John III of Portugal at the Biography Collaboration, so it gets the (mainly linguistic) attention needed to become featured quality. This collaboration does not get as much attention as the WP:IDRIVE but maybe someone will help copyedit. Vote can for this article here. --Fenice 12:06, 14 August 2005 (UTC)
The Ogre 11:14, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
Glad to be of service! I do wonder sometimes if my football index is worth all the bother of keeping it updated, but if people find it useful, then I'm sure I can keep it going for a bit longer :) sjorford →•← 21:39, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
Hello João Pais! You have messages in Talk:Portuguese Empire#Map of colonial posessions. Excellent user pages. Keep up the good work! The Ogre 16:38, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
I notice that recently you edited the Fernão do Pó article, and chose to put back some material that I had removed. I guess this was inappropriate on my part; I was thinking that, in such a small article about this person, detailed information about the name of an island he discovered should be put elsewhere.
Putting that aside, however, I can't find the name Flôr Formosa as the original name of the island (Bioko) in any of the references I have consulted; the original name they give is simply Formosa. Could you share the name of the reference work that gives Flôr Formosa? Thanks, S. Neuman 03:55, 29 August 2005 (UTC)
You voted for Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria, this weeks' Biography Collaboration of the weeks. Please come and help them become a featured-standard article.--Falphin 21:14, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for head's-up about this article. But if I manage get any time to work on the da Gama's it will be creating an article about one of his more famous sons -- Christopher da Gama, who led the Portuguese Expeditionary force that freed Ethiopia from Ahmad Gragn (circa 1541-1543). Most of the research is done: now I just to have write it. -- llywrch 18:21, 31 August 2005 (UTC)
Please explain how two princesses born in the Brazilian Imperial Family and who did not marry into the Portuguese royals are part of the Portuguese royalty. Don't let the family names deceive you. The Brazilian and the Portuguese Royal/Imperial families are not one and the same, having been separated since the abdication of Peter I — even though he reigned briefly as Peter IV of Portugal, this has no effect on the Brazilian Imperial family. No members of the Brazilian Imperial Family are considered to be "also" members of the Portuguese royals, unless they married into it (notable exception to Maria II da Glória, but that is a completely odd case), being that the House of Bragança was "split in two" by his abdication and the creation of the Brazilian Imperial Family, separate from the Portuguese House of Bragança reigning in Portugal (and Peter I's children, with the exception of Maria II da Glória, are part of the Brazilian royals, not the Portuguese, AFAIK). If you do not provide a valid reason, I will re-revert the articles again.
Incidentally, please try to use edit summaries and talk pages to justify your reasons. It makes everybody else's lives much easier, and it prevents your edits from being mistaken for vandalism on occasion. Thanks, Redux 23:31, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
Good work with this map in the FIFA article - very illustrative and far superior to the original! Erath 14:28, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for updating the page. I have unfortunately been extremely busy and the only edits I have been making are to Extraordinary Rendition on the talk. I hope I will have time but with my current health issues its doubtful. I'm appalled at myself for letting the BCOTW project go like this again. Thanks for updating though. Thanks for uploading Image:Pinheiro de Azevedo.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use ((GFDL)) to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use ((Non-free fair use in|article name)) or ((fairuse)). See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Pak21 11:01, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

I am looking for good quality PHOTOS of the Portuguese presidents:
António Óscar de Fragoso Carmona, Francisco Higino Craveiro Lopes, Américo de Deus Rodrigues Tomás
I need them for adding to a portal www.archontology.org, where PORTUGAL is one of the sections. Unfortunately, the Internet is full of either PAINTED portraits, which I consider inferior to real photos, or bad quality pics. I hope you would agree that Portugal history is worth of wide exposure in the format of the Heads of State record and would appreciate any help. You may reach me at editor@archontology.org. Thanks.
Hi Joaopais! In the German Wikipedia, a user has requested an IPA transcription of Maria das Graças Meneghel’s (de) nickname “Xuxa”. As you are a Portuguese native-speaker and have provided transcriptions of a couple of Portuguese names, I decided bothering you with that. The transcription I suggest is [ˈʃuʃa]. Is that correct or, if not, could you write a proper one? In case you have a few minutes, a transcription for Xuxa’s birth name would be neat. Thanks a lot in advance! Christopher ♒ 22:58, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi! Excuse me for addressing you again. You seem to have overlooked my request for help concerning the IPA transcription of Xuxa. Never mind! I’d be grateful for any early answer, even if it was that you cannot—for whatever reasons—help me with the transcription. Thank you! Christopher ♒ 13:33, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

In this edit, you have added that some "Prime Ministers before de Constitutional Monarchy". Where did you got that info, if you remember? It happens that it may not be accurate. --Bigs slb 10:24, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
Regarding your comment in List of family trees, apparently, the article was deleted: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Portuguese monarchs family tree. I don't know what condition it was in, but I certainly do not subscribe to the general position that family trees are not Wikipedia-worthy (I might be partial, though -- I made Image:Vasa.png myself). -- Jao 21:48, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
