Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Lapantera3! Your additions to Port Chicago disaster have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 18:04, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

April 2022[edit]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did at John Henry Balch, you may be blocked from editing. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. May 2022[edit]

Copyright problem icon Your edit to List_of_World_War_I_films has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. WP:EL[edit]

Hi! Don't insert WP:EL in articles like you did here:[1], this includes the imdbtitle version, which sneakily looks like a wikilink, but is not. See also Wikipedia:Citing IMDb. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:05, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This should be considered a kind 3.5 level warning, considering you've received a level three warning about disruptively adding external links previously. The next warning will be a final warning. So consider yourself warned. Pabsoluterince (talk) 08:14, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Also, when you edit, use Help:Edit summary. WP:COMMUNICATE may also be helpful. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:21, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reported at WP:AIV, we'll see what happens. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:28, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked for a week for the problems outlined on this page. PhilKnight (talk) 08:29, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@PhilKnight, shouldn't you add one of those "If you think you should be unblocked..." templates? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:37, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, here's a standard template:
Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 7 days for abuse of editing privileges. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: ((unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~)).

@PhilKnight, same again:[2] Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:55, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Blocked for three months for adding external links into the body of articles and not communicating. PhilKnight (talk) 11:12, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Commons[edit]

About your Commons uploads:[3] They will probably be deleted sooner or later, since Commons doesn't accept non-free stuff. Like WP, it has very strict rules about copyright, as can be seen above on this talkpage. WP (not Commons) actually allows some non-free stuff like a movie-poster, but only in a WP-article about that movie. Copyright rules are annoying, but as Wikipedians, they're what we have to work with. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:44, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
