Australian slang

Although the exact origin of the moniker "goon" is uncertain, shortly after the introduction of box wine into the common liquor market, it received the nickname of "goon" by university students, particularly among colleges at the University of Queensland. Other terms for box wine include "boxswine", "bagoboxswine", "handbag", "deathbag", "goonbag", "goon pillow", "gooner", "goonie", "goonsack", "bag of goon", "cardbordeaux", or "Chateau Cardboard", and "space bag". People who are known to consistently consume box wine are colloquially known in Australia as "Goon Dogs", "Goon Rats", "Goon Sluts", "Goon Whores", "Goon Bitches" or "Goonites".
