firstly thank you for re-organizing the David Combe page and making the information more accurate. Yes being Davids 2nd son from his first marriage to Meena Blesing, I am aware of a lot of his career achievements. He is famous for the combe ivanov affair, but not what was stated as a string of political scandals as stated by another user.

The picture stated to be combe is not him, and he is not aware of who it could be? Combe had the famous bushy Black Curly hair, often mistaken for ex-prime minister of NZ David Lange.

Combe resigned on his own accord from the board of Evans & Tate in 2003, long before it was dissolved in 2005. The last few years he has been doing more consulting work for Exporting Australian Wine to Europe/Canada/US. Once i get a clearer picture of this information i will pass it along. sol

hey there Russavia, i noticed some incorrect information on the wiki page for David Combe. Changes made have been in good faith, and any dubious or incorrect information about him were changed appropriately. Also Photo of Combe is not of him.

I wasn't too happy with the way things were progressing on the David Combe page, particularly various people removing various other people's contributions, so I did some homework, and I think I've been able to find supporting references for pretty well everything you added to the page. Hence, I've restored all the stuff you wrote that I could find supporting references for.

I haven't been able to find ANY information about David since he left Simon Gilbert Wines in Feb 2007. Do you have any information about his activities in the last 2.5 years?

Also, I haven't been able to pin down a date for when he moved from Evans & Tate to Simon Gilbert Wines. Do you have any information on that?

"Combe resigned from the board of Evans & Tate in 2003." - That's a bit confusing; on 11 April 2004, Richard Ehrlich wrote: "Combe is a ... non-executive director of ... Evans & Tate". No mention of him being Chairman of SGV. Do you know who he was representing when he made the Bordeaux speech?

Ah ha! I found a couple of old references which has led to:

From March 2001 to November 2003, he joined Western Australian wine producer Evans and Tate Limited as a non-executive director with a view to providing strategic input and guidance in an ambitious acquisition programme.[10]

In 2004, in a speech at Bordeaux, he lambasted the wine-purchasing policies of UK supermarkets which "if committed in Australia, would represent major breaches of the trade practices laws".[11]

In June 2004 he was appointed chairman of Simon Gilbert Wines,[12] and in November 2004 officially opened the winery's newly completed Cellar Door operation in Mudgee.[13] He retired as a director and chairman in February 2007, "to take up another position within the wine industry".[14][15][16]

It doesn't quite resolve what he was doing between Nov 2003 and June 2004, but it does explain the wording used in the "Bordeaux speech" article, and why the article doesn't mention SGV.
