Yes, I just saw the news in the Admins Newsletter! Did you really need ANOTHER job here? LOL! I don't see how you have any free time. But so glad you volunteered to serve the larger project. We're lucky to have you. LizRead!Talk!02:16, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
@Liz: Aww, thank you Liz! I do what I can to help—I'm sure my sleep schedule won't thank me for it! Pretty sure I did an alright job of stewarding last time, and hope to continue the trend 😊 -- TNT (talk • she/her) 02:20, 2 March 2022 (UTC)

Hey TNT! Question, what do I tell the T&S team when I Contact them? Only asking since I"m getting ready to contact them. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654502:04, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

Hi, Mr.anjaan is one of my mentees, he asked me why his Wikipedia page doesn’t show on google and I can answer it but in order to advise him against creating a page that will get it either G11 or U5 tagged I need to know what was on the page to figure out whether to say, don’t write about yourself or don’t write about your company, etc. Thanks, Zippybonzo (talk) 17:49, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
Ask for assistance in improving page on non-english LTA
((User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow))
Hey TNT! Someone on the Teahouse recently asked a question pertaining to an LTA who is mainly on Japanese Wikipedia but is also on enWiki. The issue is, their enWiki page isn't all that good (written by an IP who admitted their english isn't very good). I noticed that the admin on jaWiki who blocked the most recent scok of the LTA is also here on enWiki (although they can only communicate in simple english). I'd like to ask them to assist me in improving the LTA page so that it's at least somewhat helpful, however I also don't want to violate WP:DENY or send them an email. What do you suggest I do in this case? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654518:01, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
@Blaze Wolf: Hmm.. WP:LTA has been a point of contention for quite some time.. we should log these behaviours so we can easily spot them, but we should also be careful to not encourage LTAs to "get their name in the book". If you go ahead with it, please do try to pay attention to the "Cautionary notes" -- TNT (talk • she/her) 21:54, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
Are you referring to the "cautionary notes" on the specific LTA's page? Cause if so I'm fairly sure that's only on this specific LTA's LTA page on jaWiki. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654521:56, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
It's really important we take extra care when dealing with people's private information 🙂 -- TNT (talk • she/her) 03:33, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
Blaze Wolf, unfortunately TNT is probably asleep, so you get to hear this from me instead of from the gentle and understanding admin. You have made a complete and utter mess of things:
Posting publicly about a suppression request on an oversighter's talk page (watched by 275 people) and providing enough context that it is obvious both who you are talking about and what they did that needs suppression (please take a moment to read about the Streisand effect).
Removing private information with edit summaries that draw attention to the fact that said content contains private information.
Using edit summaries that directly mention the sort of personally identifiable information that you are removing.
Continuing to discuss the fact of this private information after it was suppressed.
All of this made the oversight team's job harder, not easier. And no, I am not an oversighter, but I had to grab one to get things cleaned up quickly after you drew extra attention to the situation. I cannot make this any clearer: you, of all people, have no business doing anything around private information. Next time you see this kind of thing, email in an oversight request, then do nothing else. Do not remove it. Do not offer "helpful" advice to the editor. Do not post on an oversighter's talk page about your request. Just stop. Somebody who understands how to handle this situation will take it from there. I want to bring to your attention an IP that is engaging in misgendering/deadnaming mischief regarding Lia Thomas through a redirect. I don’t know if I have the power to warn or discipline but this edit seems to have escaped others’ eyes. Granted the IP has made only one edit but it’s pretty bad.

I have a request @ meta:Talk:Title_blacklist. 3 separate LTAs have made it their goal to impersonate and bully me by using my username as theirs in the past few months; seriously thinking about giving up anti-vandal/LTA work for some time if this isn't resolved. There is a new public status page at www.wikimediastatus.net. This site shows five automated high-level metrics where you can see the overall health and performance of our wikis' technical environment. It also contains manually-written updates for widespread incidents, which are written as quickly as the engineers are able to do so while also fixing the actual problem. The site is separated from our production infrastructure and hosted by an external service, so that it can be accessed even if the wikis are briefly unavailable. You can read more about this project.

Hi! I'm Ed6767, the original creator of RedWarn, now one of the most popular tools on the English Wikipedia that's been used by over 1,000 Wikimedians to make over 300,000 edits since mid-2020 that's been praised for its user friendliness and ease of use, but criticised for its limited functionality. I'm leaving this message as I think it may be of interest here - I left the RedWarn project in November to develop Teyora, my successor to RedWarn (alongside Chlod'sUltraViolet). It's a new in development web app that uses some of the latest web technologies to create a highly extendable all in one editing tool with a focus on administration, counter vandalism and general patrolling - not to mention, it'll work on every Wikimedia project without any prior configuration and can be used by any user with at least auto-confirmed rights*. Now, I'm ready to give the Wikimedia community a first look at what I've been doing over the past six months and what to expect going forward.
There's lots more to expect too! Why not read the full details page at meta:Teyora and leave any feedback, comments or wishes at meta:Talk:Teyora (please leave any correspondence there to keep discussion centralised). If you're interested, you can leave your signature
*with basic features, advanced features require configuration. To prevent abuse, auto-confirmed users will be in a restricted mode until approved by an admin or via rollback rights.
Hi, @TheresNoTime! Thank you for creating MediaWiki:Tag-Ultraviolet. I noticed that it contains the acronym for UV instead of its full name. I understand that we did have a discussion on WT:RW a while back regarding the name "RedWarn" being BITEy for new users, but I don't find anything about the new name problematic (namely we don't have "warn" in the name anymore). Would it be alright if it were changed to include the full name? In addition, can the redirect also by bypassed to avoid someone from retargeting the link? Chlod (say hi!) 06:46, 16 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi TheresNoTime,
This is more than likely not the proper way to do this, but I couldn't find where to ask and I saw you were recently active so figured I would ask here.

@Scorpions13256: Hey — I have a very relaxed policy towards self-requested blocks (so relaxed that I don't list anything anywhere), but I do shy away from the idea of doing a self-requested block on someone with whom I have had a previous disagreement, even if things are okay now. Doesn't "feel right" to do that 🙂 I'd suggest reaching out to someone on this list (perhaps Ferret?) — TNT (talk • she/her) 07:37, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
@Scorpions13256@ @Beeblebrox@ I'm a little wary of issuing this block, as it's been requested and then removed multiple times from multiple administrators in the past week. Do you want to be blocked or no...? -- ferret (talk) 13:45, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
Yes. I removed it from Ferret's talk page because Beeblebrox already responded to me. I removed it from TNT's talk page due to the awkwardness and the lack of response. None of it was due to actual reluctance. Yes, I do want to be blocked. Scorpions13256 (talk) 15:22, 13 May 2022 (UTC)

linkThings doesn't work with 2017 source editor under certain conditions
Hello there! I was looking at the source code for linkThings trying to figure out how existing scripts modify VE, and noticed it suffers from an issue I'd had in my own script: when the script is loaded, it checks whether the user is editing, and does nothing otherwise. But opening the 2017 editor doesn't navigate, unlike opening the old editor, so the script has already executed and decided not to do anything at that point. The user has to either directly navigate to a ?action=edit URL or reload the page for linkThings to load correctly.
My recommended fix would be to just remove that check altogether – the mw.hooks will never be fired when the user isn't editing, anyway. Rummskartoffel18:58, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
For getting WP:REFILL running again a couple of days back, and the work you're currently quietly doing with the code. The way you spot something that needs doing and just crack on with it with no fuss seems to me the epitome of what being a Wikipedian is about. Thank you!

In the AbuseFilter extension, an ip_in_ranges() function has been introduced to check if an IP is in any of the ranges. Wikis are advised to combine multiple ip_in_range() expressions joined by | into a single expression for better performance. You can use the search function on Special:AbuseFilter to locate its usage. [11]
The IP Info feature which helps abuse fighters access information about IPs, has been deployed to all wikis as a beta feature. This comes after weeks of beta testing on test.wikipedia.org.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for playing fair - I made my first edit 6 months ago but was stunned by the experience and so I left a message and then left wikipedia and did not come back till today!
If I ever write anything inappropriate or incorrect I will be very happy for someone like you to make a judgment and correct me - I fully expect to be held by the same standard as others and I believe with editors like you I will be.
Thank you again for sticking up for me - I honestly felt bullied and just thought I would leave rather than face the stress.
Administrators using the mobile web interface can now access Special:Block directly from user pages. (T307341)
The IP Info feature has been deployed to all wikis as a Beta Feature. Any autoconfirmed user may enable the feature using the "IP info" checkbox under Preferences → Beta features. Autoconfirmed users will be able to access basic information about an IP address that includes the country and connection method.
