SurferSquall / ForeignClimber5[edit]

Hi, I have a few questions. Firstly where was this rename requested? Secondly are you aware this user is currently under scruitiny for potentially abusing multiple accounts at ANI? Daniel (talk) 22:57, 27 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Confirmed as a sockpuppet, so this is somewhat moot. Thanks anyways, Daniel (talk) 23:14, 27 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi @Daniel, thank for the message. The user requested renaming via Special:GlobalRenameQueue (m:Special:GlobalRenameQueue/request/115123); those with access can see it. At the time of renaming, there were no blocks on their account, so my action is valid. —Yahya (talkcontribs.) 05:20, 28 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sorry, I think I made a mistake. So I am going to revert my action. —Yahya (talkcontribs.) 05:26, 28 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Reverted. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. —Yahya (talkcontribs.) 05:38, 28 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Renames[edit]

Hello, Yahya,

Apparently, you renamed User:Tranhoangnam4320 but didn't move their User pages. I have other nonexistent usernames showing up on my Quarry query so it might not be the only one. When you rename an account, please follow through with all of the other steps that need to be taken. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 04:08, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Liz In the rename request page, there are two checkboxes alongside: 'Move user pages' and 'Suppress creation of redirects'. The first one is selected by default. I handled this request from my smartphone. I probably mistakenly clicked the first while intending to click the second. I apologize for that.
However, there is almost zero chance of such a mistake in the previous renames. I assume you are referring to this Quarry. I have checked all of these, and there are no such problems. —Yahya (talkcontribs.) 05:00, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I will fix it soon by reverting and renaming again. Note that This one was handled by Cabayi (request). —Yahya (talkcontribs.) 05:17, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, that is the Quarry query I run. Most of the names on that list are WikiEd students who changed their usernames but the editors who work with WikiEd are still posting messages for them on their old, abandoned user pages. I use to handle it myself, but this time there are 6 and I'd like them to start taking care of them themselves but so far, no action has been taken. Thanks for your explanation but I still don't understand...is the editor who used to be User:Tranhoangnam4320 changing their username again? Liz Read! Talk! 06:41, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Liz If I solve the problem by manually moving pages, there is a chance that I might miss some. Therefore, I want to first rename User:8pqh8EAAGKk6t6zEFr349 to User:Tranhoangnam4320. In the next step, I will rename User:Tranhoangnam4320 back to User:8pqh8EAAGKk6t6zEFr349 while keeping the 'Move user pages' checkbox selected. —Yahya (talkcontribs.) 07:05, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
