Waverley Falcons is a member club of the NBL1 South based in Melbourne, Victoria. The club fields both a men's and women's team. The club is a division of Waverley Basketball Association (WBA), the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. The Falcons play their home games at Waverley Basketball Centre.
Waverley Basketball Association was established in 1976.[1] Their representative division, the Waverley Falcons, was formed in 1982.[2]
In 1994, the Falcons women won the Country Victorian Invitational Basketball League (CVIBL) championship.[3] Waverley joined the Big V in 2000.[4] The Falcons men won back-to-back Big V championships in 2010 and 2011.[5]
Waverley joined the NBL1 in 2019.[6] The 2020 NBL1 season was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic.[7] In 2023, the women's team lost in the NBL1 South grand final to the Bendigo Braves.[8]
