I prodded it with the following rationale: "The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (biographies) requirement. " It was deprodded by User:Number 57 with the following rationale "This guy refereed at a World Cup, so was recognised as being an elite referee at the time. I think this at least deserves an AfD for a full discussion". So, here we are. Do note that being a referee, even a World Cup one, means nothing in light of our notability criteria (see also Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football/Notability#Referee_notability). Referees have to meet GNG just like anybody else, and this one doesn't seem to do it. I don't see any in-depth coverage, just passing mentions on niche sport fan websites. - Keep - While the position of referee does not confer notability, having an article in a widely read publication focus on your achievements does. The LA Times and US Soccer articles are enough to meet WP:GNG. — Jkudlick tcs 12:39, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - has refereed at the highest possible level. the additional sources added recently indicate wider GNG. Fenix down (talk) 13:07, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
