I prodded it with the following rationale: "The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (biographies) requirement. " It was deprodded by User:Number 57 with the following rationale "World Cup referee deserves a proper discussion at AfD". Fair enough, let's discuss why this person should be notable, keeping in mind that per Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football/Notability#Referee_notability, referees are not notable by the virtue of their profession - they have to pass WP:BIO/GNG on a case-by-case basis. Here's a few articles/pages from a book on him. [3] [4] [5] Admittedly, his publicity is mostly related to one incident but I'd still say that's enough to pass him. It should probably be moved to "Esse Baharmast" but that's a discussion for another day. Spiderone 09:31, 6 December 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Also potentially notable for being the first American referee to officiate for two matches in a single World Cup. [6] Spiderone 09:35, 6 December 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
