Keep - Rovers are one of the 7 clubs that compete in the Guernsey Football Association League (The FNB Priaulx League) - the main league on Guernsey. Given the remoteness of the island in respect to mainland Britain I make the case that any club that has competed in the main league on the island should be treated as notable. There is an issue of precedence with reference to the Isle of Man Football League where 25 clubs have their own WP article. It could be that this is an issue that has wider ramifications and should be discussed on WP:FOOTBALL. In terms of quality the Guernsey Rovers A.C. article is dated/very poor. Question. It would seem there is no article on the Guernsey Football Association League (GAFL) so would that be considered notable if created? I note that Guernsey F.C. has achieved notability because that club has qualified for an English regional league, the Combined Counties Football League. It seems to me that GAFL is very minor but I'm willing to be convinced otherwise. There must be a notability relevance in the Guernsey official football team not being affiliated to either FIFA or UEFA. --Brian (talk) 18:44, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Comment. Vale Recreation from the Guernsey Football Association League competed in the FA Vase from 1987-91 refer (http://www.fchd.btinternet.co.uk/VALEREC.HTM) - they reached the fourth round in 1987-88. Are the Island's clubs disadvantaged in entering the Vase because of costs/remoteness? (Finnish Gas (Finnish Gas 20:17, 15 March 2012 (UTC))[reply]

Comment This AfD has been open for three weeks and the article is still lacking any independent sources which confer notability. I strongly suspect this is because there is no notability. Regarding the discussion Finnish Gas previously started, there was no consensus that notability is conferred on these island clubs. In the absence of notability, despite ample time being allowed in order to establish it, I feel the only option is to delete the article. Cloudz 679 11:11, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Given the lack of consensus I agree with Cloudz679 that the only option is to delete. It appears that all the leading clubs on the island of Guernsey (with the exception of the new Guernsey FC and Vale Recreation) will not be recognised on Wikipedia. In my view there is a need for a rethink and allow some flexibility shown on the issue of notability, in terms of recognising that:

1. the main Channel Island newspaper(s) are equivalent to a regional paper.

2. Guernsey clubs are treated in the same manner as 26 clubs on the Isle of Man. League Octopus (League Octopus 16:46, 31 March 2012 (UTC))[reply]
