No claim of notability. No sources. I cannot find WP:SIGCOV. Tacyarg (talk) 17:16, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep A widespread fashion accessory. ("The item that ultimately convicted Murdoch was a small, non-descript everyday item, an elastic hair-tie." - Keep in it's current form, it does seem to run afoul of the GNG, but that being said probably 50% of living Americans have used or will use one of these at some point in their lives, so I'm going to call it notable. Article needs a lot of work, though. - Scarpy (talk) 23:28, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - Creation Source is a nice bit on them. Given that the current situation is tracking down a detailed bit just on hair ties because there are literally thousands of articles talking about their usage. There's a mix of style, and even some significant pieces on odd bits like Hair Tie causes illness?. Even as someone who hates WP:IAR in AfDs, if it is needed here I gladly suggest it, but I don't think it's needed. Nosebagbear (talk)
- However some discussion should probably take place about this and Scrunchie. They obviously are functionally the same thing, with most mentions actually flipping between both names in an article. I have absolutely no idea which one is more common. Nor would I be surprised to find out, for example, that scrunchies are a specific variant group. In any case, with such a complicated potential merge case, I would not advise having it out here. Nosebagbear (talk) 13:32, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep per WP:GNG, or merge as sugggested. Functionally, they work similarly, but my students use the words to mean different objects. Bearian (talk) 15:20, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- Withdraw AfD nomination - this looks much better now and I am withdrawing the nomination. Thanks for working on it, and I'm sorry I didn't find these references.Tacyarg (talk) 20:29, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
