The result was delete. Hasn't, as yet, played in a fully professional league. There is obviously some interest in the name coincidence but the clear consensus is that the coverage that this has produced is insufficient to meet the relevant notability guidelines. • Keep. BLP1E only applies when the event that the subject relates to has an article of its own, which isn't the case here. The reason for the subject's notability may be quirky and atypical, but I do believe it is valid. Many people will come to wikipedia looking for this article. I took it to be implicit in the sentence "In such cases [as this], it is usually better to merge the information and redirect the person's name to the event article", that in order to act on BLP1E, an article about the event in question is required.
