I have no idea how A railroad stop in the southeastern part of Logan Township, maintained in 1912. Oakley is a common family name and this place was doubtless named for a landowner. On the Highway Map the name is incorrectly spelled Oakle from the non-GNIS source is enough to determine that this is an "extinct town" or a community founded in 1912. This name doesn't even appear on topographic maps. Searching brings up a reference to the "Oakley station", a couple references to a "farm at Oakley", some stuff about a car race in Oakley, Kansas, and appearances in old railroad timetables. There's a number of passing mentions, but all related to it being a spot on the railroad. Doesn't seem notable. Hog Farm _Talk 19:07, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

• delete The GNIS folks were really digging deep here, since I really think that the "Ramsay Place-Name Card Collection", whatever its value otherwise, surely isn't going to give us notable places if we have to resort to it instead of other sources. Mangoe (talk) 20:49, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Mangoe: - To make matters worse, the "Ramsey Place-Name Card Collection" is the non-GNIS source quoted in the nomination calling it a railroad stop maintained in 1912. I have to wonder how much effort went into place classification sometimes. Hog Farm _Talk 21:11, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

• I found the railway station of the Missouri Southern Railroad Company on a list (Mann, Rable, Freeman, Oakley, Ellington) and that's it.
