Was proposed for deletion and supported. However I wondered if some of the claims in the (very poorly written) article amounted to some form of borderline notability - "one of the best hurdlers in the nation". He does get some mentions on the internet - though sources don't appear reliable. There seems enough doubt to ask for a wider discussion. SilkTork *^YES! 22:09, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete - I supported the proposed deletion, but I also understand why you started this AfD, I myself took some time before I decided to support the deletion, it wasn't obvious. He certainly has an interesting past, but in deciding whether or not to support deleting the article I considered both WP:N and WP:ATHLETE. Under general notability guidelines there should be significant coverage of him, but the most I can find were when he was included in a list of players as the result of a sporting event, no actual coverage of him specifically. Under the guideline for athletes, he either had to have performed at the highest amateur level (which would be the Olympic Games or something equivalent) or performed professionally. As to the former, he only made it to the trials for the '96 Olympics but didn't qualify. In 1995 and 1997 he also was at the trials for the USA Track & Field World Championship, but again only the trials. As to the latter, he tried out for a professional soccer career but didn't make it. There might be a place to chronicle the efforts of an athlete who almost succeeds but fails each time, but Wikipedia isn't the place. -- Atama ^chat 22:28, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
