Operator: Anomie

Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic

Programming Language(s): Perl

Function Summary: Update GA=yes and FC=yes to ((dyktalk)) as appropriate.

Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): On demand, possibly regularly

Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Y

Function Details: Per request, the bot will go through article talk pages transcluding ((dyktalk)) (and redirects). The FC=yes parameter will be added to or removed from the dyktalk template depending on whether the article talk page includes Category:Wikipedia featured articles or Category:Wikipedia featured lists. Similarly, the GA=yes parameter will be added/removed depending on Category:Wikipedia good articles.

Discussion[edit]

This is another variation on my TemplateReplacer task from previous BRFAs, the source is here. Since the page categories must be loaded to determine the desired state of the GA/FC parameters and those parameters in turn result in other categories, the bot can skip loading the page at all unless the categories indicate an edit will be needed. This task is unnecessary. The ((dyktalk)) template gets incorporated into ((ArticleHistory)) whenever a page passes FA or FL, and most of the time when a page passes GA or has a peer review. Thus few ((dyktalk)) templates should exist on the talk pages of FAs, FLs or GAs. (A bit of modification to User:DYKBot could eliminate future exceptions.) The categories described above can be populated with code in ((ArticleHistory)). Gimmetrow 04:11, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
At least one is Gimmebot's fault ;) Do you plan to update Gimmebot to clean up the existing (and any future) articles? Anomie 04:30, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That one is taken care of. Gimmetrow 04:36, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Withdrawn by operator. Hopefully Gimmetrow will update GimmeBot to fix these, despite the lack of response to that query above. Anomie 16:18, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
