Operator: Madman bum and angel

Automatic or Manually Assisted: Manually assisted.

Programming Language(s): JavaScript.

Function Summary: To add ((WikiProjectBannerShell)) to talk pages that currently have three or more WikiProject banners and are not using ((WikiProjectBanners)).

Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): As needed.

Edit rate requested: Bookmarklet will use the maxlag parameter to ensure that there is no unnecessary load on the server. Maxlag parameter will stay at recommended value (currently 5).

Already has a bot flag (Y/N): N.

Function Details: Basically self-explanatory. The operator re-arranges WikiProject banners as necessary and selects them all. The bookmarklet prepends ((WikiProjectBannerShell|1= and appends )), adding blp=yes and activepol=yes as necessary. It then adds |nested=yes to the end of every template transclusion within the selection. The operator will review the results of every batch run once it is completed.

Examples of operation: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

Discussion[edit]

Do all Wikiproject templates support the nested=yes parameter? Other than that, I see no problems, so Approved for trial. Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. Make 50 or so edits and report back. —METS501 (talk) 03:24, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, they do not. That's why I review the results. Just so you know, the "bot" has pretty much already had a trial period. I was running it under my account, as a semi-automated tool as permitted by policy, until I was blocked for running an unapproved bot. The unblocking admin dictated that I should restrict my edit rate to four edits/minute or file a procedural BRFA. I've been running this code for weeks and have made roughly two thousand edits or so using it. — Madman bum and angel (talk – desk) 03:33, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
