Operator: NickW557

Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic with supervision

Programming Language(s): AutoWikiBrowser

Function Summary: Substitute Wikipedia:UTM templates (mostly warning templates) on user talk pages.

Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): Once or twice daily, generally once.

Edit rate requested: 4-5 edits per minute

Already has a bot flag (Y/N): N

Function Details: I have noticed during RC patrol that many patrollers forget to substitute vandalism, spam, NPOV,... warning templates on user talk pages. The high-risk templates are protected or semi-protected but others are not. Occasional bad vandalism, like this, can have extraordinary results across all the user talk pages for users that have been warned without substitution, and this is obviously why it is stressed to substitute warning templates. After noticing this, I looked through "what transcludes here" for many of the common warning templates and the numbers are upwards of 200 for each. NW557Bot would gather the list of user talk pages which contain transcluded warning templates and then automatically substitute them. Other bots perform template substitution, but I think another bot which focuses solely on warning templates would be beneficial. I look forward to any constructive criticism as this is my first Request for Bot Approval.

Discussion[edit]

Great job with your first approval :-) You did everything right. Approved for trial. Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. Make 50-100 edits and report back with diffs. I've enabled bot mode in AWB for your bot. —METS501 (talk) 03:28, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! It has made 70 edits now, 69 of those relating to this request (the other one was opting out of HagermanBot signing, so it wont sign the bot's name to templates it substitutes that weren't signed by those who left the warning). During the trial run I substituted ((Uw-delete1)), ((Uw-delete2)), ((Uw-delete3)), and ((Uw-delete4)) along with their respective shortcut templates (Uw-d1, etc.). Here is a diff for each of those: Uw-delete1 Uw-delete2 Uw-delete3 Uw-delete4. --NickContact/Contribs 07:02, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Approved. This bot shall run with a flag. —METS501 (talk) 18:26, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
