Operator: ThaddeusB

Automatic or Manually assisted: Automatic

Programming language(s): Perl

Function overview: Provide some requested stats for WP: WikiProject Journals

Edit period(s): at most once per database dump

Estimated number of pages affected: 50

Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Y

Function details: Per this bot request the academic journals wikiproject would like a bot to compile some stats on the most cited journals on Wikipedia. My bot will read from the latest database dump and find all the instances of ((citation)) and ((cite journal)) that have a "journal=" parameter. When finished, it will sort the information both alphabetically and by hits and output the results to Wikipedia:WikiProject Academic Journals/Bot compilation/ and subpages there of. The idea is to help the project prioritize creating pages for widely cited journals without pages and often used abbreviations which currently lack redirects.

Discussion[edit]
