Operator:xeno (talk)

Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic (supervised)

Programming Language(s): AWB

Function Overview: Find and replace jobs

Edit period(s): Occasionally (when consensus exists for a job)

Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Y

Function Details: A recent AN thread (permlink) uncovered an editor who had been adding the line "Based on the article in the French Wikipedia." to articles on French communes. This runs afoul of WP:SELFREF & WP:RS (and wasn't even always an accurate statement) and consensus developed to remove the line en masse. I had started doing this with my alternate account and I just realized there are over 21,000 instances remaining, so I would like to complete it with my bot. Note that my bot's tasks 2, 3 and 4 already involve some manner of find & replace.

Approved. You've essentially already run a trial. I checked the edits, and they look great. – Quadell (talk) 17:56, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
