I cherish the quaint tone of discussion at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Tom Smith (filker), one of your earliest debates and successes, long before I became active here. Your more recent AFD participation, nominating Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rena Silverman, has also been effective.

If you wish to become an admin, you need to provide benefits without drawbacks. Your contribution history shows multiple edits to all the main admin pages - WP:ANI, WP:AN3, WP:AIV, WP:RFPP and so forth - so I have no doubt that you are experienced enough to succeed as an admin. I am unfamiliar with your conflicts, or when they took place (you have been around, off and on, since 2004). If they precede this year and are mostly forgotten, and if you have made amends with other users as necessary, I won't hold it against you.

• You absolutely should not empty categories before putting them up for deletion, as you did just now here. See WP:CfD. It is very difficult for other editors to discuss empty categories. Johnbod 15:48, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?

   I think I'm still happiest about saving the Tom Smith (filker) article from its AfD, expanding it so that several Deletes flipped to Keep. Long-term, I'm pretty happy with my contributions to articles related to Freemasonry.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

   Oh, sure. Most of the stress has come from religious topics, such as contraception use or whether Knights of Columbus can also be Freemasons. In some cases, I've backed far off the articles, though I'm still interested: in others, I've just moved on to other things. I've also reported people on WP:ANI and WP:3RR, and have participated in an arbitration case. I always try to get consensus as far as possible, and when not possible, I get the cites to back me up -- or not, if I'm that far off base.
