- Hmm... I agree, actually, but including the references in the lead actually seems to be standard practice in FLs (which is why I followed it here). See, for example, List of dragonfly species recorded in Britain, List of Kansas birds, and various other featured lists of animals. I think the reason for this is that the list needs to make its membership criteria clear in the lead, and doing so generally requires mentioning the references. -- Visviva 13:27, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
