I am the original uploader of this file. The file has all the appropriate fair use rationales on its page. But somehow a user keeps removing this file from the articles concerned stating that the file does not satisfy NFCC. I have tried to communicate with the user on their talkpage telling him on 6 February 2013:

Please understand the historic significance of the picture you are reverting. This is not a mere "junta picture". It is the picture of the junta being approved by the king. It set the tone for all later developments in Greece including the abolition of the monarchy. Put it up for deletion if you wish to let other persons express their opinions but do not remove it from the article as being "redundant". It definitely is not. Thank you.

but I got no answer. Instead, on 2 March 2013, almost a month after I contacted them on their talkpage, they removed the file from the article again. I do not think that pictures such as this which depict important historical events should be removed by edit-warring and without discussion by the wider community. So, although I am the original uploader, I am bringing it here so that we can have a proper discussion and gather the opinion of the wider comunity. I think this picture has valid fair use rationales for the articles it is included in, and it is also a historic document illustrating an important turning point in Greek History which changed the political landscape of the country due to the swearing in of the junta by the king which was perceived as a very negative event for the monarchy. As a matter of principle I would like to have a discussion before this image is deleted, if it must, instead of summarily removing it from the articles involved without discussion and based on the opinion of just one editor. • This isn't really the forum for what you are asking. Wikipedia:Non-free content review would be a better one. But to answer the question (and I know nothing whatsoever about the subject), NFCC #8 is the critical one to consider. Would omission of this image be detrimental to the user's understanding of the topic? Could you not simply say, "Constantine met with the junta"? Fair use of an historic image is appropriate when it's something like Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima or Kent State shootings. No study of those two subjects is complete without the respective iconic photos - you couldn't possibly have a full understanding of either topic without them. But in the case of this photo, I looked at Greek_military_junta_of_1967–1974, where it is currently in use and I looked at the old version of Constantine II of Greece where it was in use. Neither article even mentions the photo. I don't see how its omission would be detrimental to my understanding. --B (talk) 00:40, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
