This file fails WP:NFCC#8 -- its inclusion in the article Sonic the Hedgehog (character) does not "significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic", nor would its omission "be detrimental to that understanding". The uploader's rationale for the purpose of the image was to "Illustrate rivalry of Sonic and Mario". However, the section of the article that has this image, the "Reception and legacy" section, does not primarily focus on the rivalry between these two characters. Furthermore, an image of the two characters next to each other is not necessary to illustrate their rivalry--text can describe such adequately. Keep: I believe the image should remain. Other articles featuring a different version of an album display an alternate cover in their respective articles. For example, File:SeaChangeCovers.jpg is shown in the Sea Change (album) article and File:Coldplay_X&Y_Latin_tour_editon.svg in the X&Y article. Considering the deluxe edition (aka the double album version) is substantially different from the standard version (single disc) and is distinguished quite heavily from the standard edition in the article itself (it is arguably a different album), I think there is a basis to use the nominated image to distinguish this version from the standard version.
