Portal:Graffiti[edit]

Abandoned non-portal.

This portal was created in 2007 with one selected article, one selected picture, a few quotes, some DYKs ... and that's it. Special:PrefixIndex/Portal:Graffiti shows no alternative entries for any slot. And the selected article is Banksy, who is so well known that even mentioning of his name is a bit superfluous.

The creator Dfrg.msc (talk · contribs) seems to have retired in 2011, and nobody has to taken over the portal.

The topic is probably broad enough to sustain a portal. Category:Graffiti and unauthorised signage looks well-populated, and commons:Category:Graffiti looks like it as lots of images. There probably is a portal to be made on the topic if someone wants to create and maintain it ... bit this isn't it. Per WP:PORTAL, "Portals serve as enhanced 'Main Pages' for specific broad subjects", but this doesn't enhance the head article Graffiti.

So I propose that this portal and its sub-pages be deleted per WP:TNT without prejudice to recreating a curated portal which is not a fork of another page, in accordance with whatever criteria the community may have agreed at that time. Soft Delete the portal and its subpages – The framework is already in place. Allowing WP:REFUNDING would make it easier for an interested user to improve and expand the portal, rather than having to start from scratch. North America¹⁰⁰⁰ 11:11, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks, @Northamerica1000. Soft Delete is fine by me. Given the lack of content in the current portal and its odd formatting (e.g. where does that MOS:FONTSIZE-non-compliant that small font come from?), I think that a fresh start would probably be better, but if some editor wants to build a new portal and would like to see the old and make their own choice on whether to re-use anything, then I see no reason to stand in their way.

My only concern is that the current non-portal should not be left as a reader-facing page. If we have a draftify option, I'd be happy with that too. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 15:51, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. It looks as if the creator wanted it to be featured but didn't listen to the advice they were given, and possibly abandoned it then. I think the subject might well be suitable for a portal, and could be broadened perhaps to include legal forms of street art. (We have deleted a street art portal, but that was a navbox-based one.)
