The file is from http://www.cyberport.hk/misc/cyberportmap/GIS_index.htm , where it says "Copyright © 2005 Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited. All rights reserved." The uploader has uploaded this image (as well as its Chinese counterpart) several times to Commons previously, and claimed that he/she uploaded them on behalf of Cyberport, but never provided any concrete proof, even after being reminded several times. I have just sent an email from my Cyberport email account to permissions-en@wikimedia.org proving that the map was indeed uploaded on behalf of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited. Please stop removing the map from Wikipedia. Krystalho (talk) 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Taken from website [1], which appears to be another sort of wiki, but the image page there has no source information. Image page here purports to be "With permission from Carol Jordan, the author.", however rather than simply this assertion given by the image's uploader, would be best to have WP:OTRS confirmation of the image's licensing status, from the image's author and copyright holder themselves. Cirt (talk) 14:59, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, listen, I've not been active on Wikipedia for the last 2 years. The process I'd have to go through looks way too complicated and I certainly don't want to put Carol Jordan through it. What I have is (1) my request for permission and (2) the permission from the author, Carol Jordan. Copying below. — mark 14:40, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Mail to Carol Jordan (01 Jan 2009)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I'm a linguist working on African languages, writing on behalf of Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia. Some time ago I have written an article on the Nafaanra language for Wikipedia, and we are still looking for suitable pictures to include. The literacy class picture on the page http://www.vernacularmedia.org/index.php/Nafaanra_Literacy_Beginnings looks great, and I want to ask if it would be possible for us to use it to illustrate the Wikipedia article on Nafaanra: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nafaanra_language

Reply from Carol Jordan (02 Feb 2009)

Dear Mark,

We loved what you have done with the Nafaanra entry. Only a couple of alterations to suggest. First off, please feel free to include the picture(s) you have that might enhance the entry. If you want to run it by us to verify that it is indeed Nafaanra that would be OK. (...) Sincerely, Carol and Dean Jordan

The result of the debate was: Erroneous Nomination. When following the listing instructions (step 2), you need to replace "Image_name.ext" with the actual name of the file. You'll also want to put your reason for deletion just after "reason=". Feel free to just replace this entire section with the corrected template. If you are still having trouble, ask for help at WT:PUF or at my talk page. AnomieBOT 15:34, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like a paparazzi photo rather than the uploader's own work; uploader has had other questionable uploads, but I can't isolate an original source for this particular image. (ESkog)(Talk) 15:49, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A camouflage pattern. It is an SVG traced from some random camouflage pattern on the internet. The source could be a PD-USGov source or it could be a private creative work - we have no way of knowing. B (talk) 22:20, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is certainly made by the government. It is a specific type of U.S. Military camouflage. Even if this wasn't the case, camouflage is hardly a "creative work". It is something that is strictly functional. IronGargoyle (talk) 02:30, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
