I came across this term linked from Pemmican, where it's described as being used by the British in the Second Boer War. So it was odd to see the link go to a World War I-era American military ration. The set index Military rations also classifies "iron rations" as US-specific, which doesn't seem right (cf. WP:INUSA). A German version is mentioned at Field ration, though that's at least from World War II. I'm not really sure what to do here, besides that some change seems advisable. In this instance however there is also a Berberis thunbergii cultivar called ‘Atropurpurea Nana’, which is presumably why this redirect was created.
