Nomination[edit]

XyphynX9 (talk · contribs) – As an everyday Wikipedian, there is an issue I see everyday on Wikipedia. Not vandalism. Not copyrighted uploads. I'm talking about Admin Abuse. Everyday, I see an administrator delete a page for "not being notable" when the page has MULTIPLE references, and many votes for the page to be kept. Maybe it isn't the music he likes? Who knows? But it just isn't fair for an article to be deleted after someone has worked very hard on it just because the Admin didn't think it was notable enough. 8 times out of 10, when I see this case happen, the page is given great defense and is in face notable but is STILL deleted anyway! If made administrator, I promise to NEVER abuse my priviliges and to treat every last user with the same fairness and respect that I treated the user before and after them with. I will also focus on the smaller, unwatched, uncovered articles that Admins focus their abuse towards. Also, if made Admin, I promise to end vandilism the second I see it. I will leave no stone left unturned. I will hunt for vandalism. If made Admin, I will use my power for what Jimmy Wales and the rest of the Wikipedia founders established it for and I will use it to that power only. Questions for the candidate[edit]

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. Please answer these questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
A: I intend to block IPs that indulge in repetitive vandilism. I intend to revert unconstructive edits the second that I spot them. I intend to semi-protect the pages that deserve them and not deny the request simply because the page is inferior to another page. And last but not least, I DO NOT intend to abuse my power and I intend to only use my power for what is intended by the Wikipedia founders and what they see fit ONLY.
2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
A: I mainly contribute to smaller pages. If you see my contributions, you will notice that I work a lot within music articles, mainly of what is referred to as "core" genres. These pages, along with other smaller pages, are pages that are often left unchecked, vandalised, and are abused by 7 out of 10 admins. I mainly contribute to these pages as to stimulate the growth of Wikipedia as a reliable informational website, no matter how big or small the topic in question might be.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: I have been in so many conflicts over editing that it is hard to remember all of them. That is actually why I am applying for Admin. Almost all of my conflicts have been because of Admin Abuse. Admins that feel the need to push the smaller user around (such as me) because a user is inferior. That is NOT what Jimmy Wales and the founding Wikipedians have in mind and that I REFUSE to be the same way. I dealt with the conflicts using my viewpoint and also keep in mind the viewpoint of the user I am conflicting with. However, this usually does not work, as like I said before, the user I am conflicting with is usually and Admin that is deciding that, because he has been given the postition he is in, he is just gonna make everything the way he pleases it to be. That will not happen with me as an admin. I can guarantee that.
Additional question from GiantSnowman
4. Have you ever edited under any other name, or as an IP?
A: I edited under the name "slipknot47" and I have done some IP edits in the past. Unfortunatly, we didn't get indvidual student laptops at my school until this year so my account was repeatedly accessed and many vandalisations happened under it and the shared IP of my school. Due to the individual laptops though, I can now freely edit without any worries of my account being improperly accessed.
Additional question from Bwilkins
5. Thanks for putting your name forward to be an admin. Could you please explain your understanding and importance of the following: a) WP:INVOLVED, b) WP:MUSICBIO, c) WP:DELETE, d) WP:SIGN and e) WP:EDSUM
A: a) Do not act upon your admin priviliges unless it is a case that you have spotted and have been uninvolved in in the past or if it is a straightforward case of vadalism (obvious vandalism).
b) A band and/or artist must establish some sort of notablility before it can even be considered to become an article.
c) If an article meets criteria for speedy deletion, contains spam, advertising, useless templates, etc., is subject for deletion.
d) The need to add a signature to every post you make in a talk page, project page, etc.
e) The need to add a summary as to what the edit is to the page that you are making (I just learned about this one a few weeks ago. I've been trying to start using it.

Oppose[edit]
  1. Oppose WP:NOTNOW. Account is one month old with 204 edits. -- KTC (talk) 16:37, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Oppose - your comment that "I have been in so many conflicts over editing that it is hard to remember all of them. That is actually why I am applying for Admin" does not fill me with any faith; neither does your constant referrals to "Admin abuse." Sounds to me like you're simply after revenge. GiantSnowman 16:43, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Oppose GiantSnowman's concerns are spot on and regardless the editor appears to have way too little experience. AutomaticStrikeout 16:48, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Oppose WP:SNOW in my opinion. I've left a couple of notes on the candidate's talk page trying to explain and offering advice - including advising withdrawal. Some day, when they've learned the policies and got into the swing of the community, maybe. Not yet. Peridon (talk) 16:49, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  5. Oppose I don't want to discourage you, but, sorry,not now, you can re-apply in next one/two year(s)! --Tito Dutta (talk) 16:51, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  6. Oppose not now. Thine Antique Pen (talk) 17:01, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  7. Strong oppose - User seems to be seeking revenge for the results of Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:XyphynX9/Misconceptions (Prague album) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shapeshifter (EP). Reaper Eternal (talk) 17:11, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    Don't forget Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Crown the Empire :-) (✉→BWilkins←✎) 17:17, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  8. Oppose because of almost no experience, and strong concerns about what GiantSnowman and Reaper Eternal pointed out.--Slon02 (talk) 17:12, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
