Nomination[edit]

yougo1000 (talk · contribs) – I want to be an admin because I feel I can help with Wikipedia. At first I was an editor who liked to troll. I stopped doing that a month ago and am trying to become a better user on Wikipedia. I have a big knowledge of sports and can easily tell when there is vandalism on sports pages. I hope you guys accept me as a admmin and I look forward to helping make wikipedia biggerYougo1000 (talk) 05:12, 25 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Questions for the candidate[edit]

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. Please answer these questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
A: I intend to help stop vandalism on sports pages and other places if it is necessary
2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
A: Being able to make quick edits and try to give the most accurate info possible
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: No I have not. There have been times when I have vandalized. I never got into a edit war however and I in the future I will remain as calm as possible

Oppose[edit]
  1. Oppose per WP:NOTNOW. Any vandalism is highly frowned upon in any RfA, but if you engage in substantial content work and vandalism fighting for at least 6 months, and optimally at least a year, you will have better chances.--Jasper Deng (talk) 05:36, 25 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  2. Oppose agree with Jasper Deng. I would suggest if you don't have enough experience with processes like this to make a proper nomination for yourself, or enough experience with your fellow editors to gain a nomination from someone else, you probably don't have enough experience to be an effective administrator on Wikipedia. Keep up the good work, spend some time at AfD, AN/I and other noticeboards along with your usual activities and in a few months or a year, perhaps someone will nominate you when you are ready. 3. Oppose You have 148 edits. You admit trolling as recently as a month ago, and vandalism as well. Please concentrate on improving the encyclopedia in a constructive way for a year or so, and then take another look at becoming an administrator. Not now, sorry. 4. Oppose Stuff like this is simply not okay. Please consider focusing on constructive editing for a longer period of time. (Note: Almost certainly some other Joe, my issue is with the vandalism, and I've had no previous interactions that I recall with this editor.) --j⚛e deckertalk 05:55, 25 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  5. Oppose Per above. Please take these opposing comments as constructive criticism; don't be disheartened — one day you may become a great administrator, but perhaps it's best you establish yourself more, by constructively editing articles and avoiding the troubles you've admitted to doing of recent times. I recommend you read this essay for better understanding in this situation. Good luck! —MelbourneStartalk 06:10, 25 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  6. Oppose. yougo, you are definitely not ready for this yet. You would need several thousand edits, an unblemished editing history for at least a year, perhaps even longer in the light of some of the recent mishaps, you would need to demonstrate a level of maturity comparable to that of an adult, and to improve your English. Continue to edit, do it nicely, and don't hesitate to ask me if you need help with anything. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:29, 25 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  7. Put a year and a thousand helpful edits between your vandalism/trolling past and your RFA and there'll be something to talk about, but WP:NOTNOW. Kilopi (talk) 06:44, 25 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
